There are some really nice entry level bolt guns on the market now. But, if the 25-06 stock/trigger/ergonomics are NOT all that special to you, I would just buy a 30-06sprg and have both. there is hardly enough difference (for me), that I can't reload/ballistics, and get close enough, to make any change!īack on topic, I think if you must go 30-06, and you really like the base rifle you have, I would change out the barrel. Over the decades I have become a firm believer that the 30-06 ballistics can come close enough (for me) to the other 30 calibers, to NOT WARRANT making any change! I feel the same way about the 224/5.56 caliber and other 22 center fire calibers. unless, you are more interested in heavy bullets. I don't think that is enough of a difference between the two to be concerned.Īs I stated, the 25 caliber is a well used hunting caliber in Europe, and comparing the two calibers, I don't see why you couldn't be happy with the 25-06. The 25-06 with a 120 grain bullet is published at around 3,000fps. today, I exclusively use 130 grains at around 3,000 fps, they have been very good. Over the decades I evolved to using lighter bullets in my ought6. But, I have always respected European hunters opinions and their wide spread use of the 25 caliber. I have been a dedicated 30-06sprg shooter for decades, so I understand your interest as well. This will be my last bump regarding this rifle.Interesting post. If I can be of further assistance please contact me otherwise please contact Gail, Kevin or Frank at the phone number listed in my attachment above. The owner of the pawn shop is a first-class person and not your typical pawn shop that many people are familiar with. As previously stated this is not my firearm I am only trying to connect a potential party of Interest with what I considered being outstanding value. Information for jail and Courthouse pawn shop it's listed above in one of my link attachments. If I was to offer the scope alone for sale on this site I would post it at $225. I would call it an alpha class minus scope. The Optic as stated before is German or Austrian. Personally not my favorite type of scope ring. The scope rings have round knurled knobs.
270 SAKO FINNBEAR CRACK
This is a hairline crack and should not affect gun function at all. Wood is solid with a beautiful finish and shows few marks except 2' crack at bottom of bolt handle cut-out. It is getting quite stiff because it is 30 + years old. This Finnbear was made in Finland by Sako and features an L61R action. Very minor in my opinion for a rifle of this age. Very minor rub wear marks in on or two places. I assume owner told Gail and her staff it was 270 and nobody thought to check further. Went by to see if the rifle was still available for sale. with your phone number if you would like me to try to take more pictures for you or help out in any way.
270 SAKO FINNBEAR SERIAL NUMBER
Made in Finland probably around the early 1960s, it has the Bofors Steel stamp on the barrel and a serial number in the 12000s. I love German Optics, I would consider the scope to be below Alpha class possibly Germany's version of a Leupold vx-3. This is my grandpa’s Sako Finnbear L61R, chambered in. I mention this because Virginia folks that are interested in what I consider to be a very premium weapon for modest money might care to pursue. I have no idea if she would be willing to ship. Sako and this chamber are widely used here in New Zealand as we have had mainly Japanese red deer population always verging on excess for since well before my father's time -(1920-1930). I know the pawn shop owner, she is a fantastic lady. on this 270 WIN finnbear Sako I too got one on a deal at least 8 years back and thought would have to rebarrel. I only mentioned it here because I consider it to be a remarkably good deal at $800+/. The Monte Carlo stock fit him funny and he passed on the purchase.
Sent my friend to pick up the weapon with the plan to send it to JES for a rebor.
I stopped in the local pawn shop the other day and found a Sako Finnbear in walnut wearing a Lisenfeld 3-7 × 32. Preamble, A friend of mine has asked me to help him build a 9-3 圆2 Mauser.
